HerdOS RFID Integration Plan

Purpose
- HerdOS should remain open to global cattle RFID technologies without forcing a client into one country, vendor, or reader model.
- The current platform supports global RFID-ready workflows, scan lists, duplicate highlighting, manual tag addition, unknown tag handling, and offline queueing.
- Production hardware integration should be completed through reader adapters and documented tests.
- HERDOS-RFID-HARDWARE-BRIDGE.txt describes the browser hardware pairing bridge now wired into the main platform and HerdOS Field.

RFID support classes
- Manual visual tag entry.
- USB HID keyboard-wedge readers that type scans into the active field.
- Bluetooth handheld wands.
- Serial/USB readers connected through approved middleware.
- Wi-Fi or LAN readers that send JSON, CSV, TCP, or HTTP events.
- Panel/chute readers.
- Scale-linked readers.
- Vendor middleware exports.
- CSV/Excel imports from reader software.
- API-based reader integrations.

Global tag standards to support
- ISO 11784/11785 animal identification workflows.
- FDX-B and HDX 134.2 kHz livestock EID where used.
- National and regional EID programs such as AIN, NLIS, CCIA, EU/UK official EID, and equivalent country systems.
- UHF/EPC payloads where a farm or vendor uses them for livestock operations.
- Farm-specific visual tags linked to official RFID/EID values.

User experience rules
- Default setup should say Global auto-detect.
- Country, program, and vendor choices should help formatting and reporting, not block the reader.
- Advanced reader settings should stay in collapsible installer/admin panels.
- Duplicate reads should not create duplicate rows. Highlight the existing row in light yellow and increment a duplicate count.
- Unknown RFID values should be captured and marked as unknown/new so workers can register the animal later.
- Manual tag entry must remain available in every work area where RFID is used.
- Offline RFID sessions must save locally first and sync later.

Adapter model
- Every reader integration should normalize scans into the same internal JSON shape:
  {
    "readerId": "device id",
    "readerName": "friendly reader name",
    "rfid": "official electronic id",
    "visualTag": "optional visual tag",
    "readAt": "ISO timestamp",
    "source": "bluetooth | usb-hid | serial | wifi | file | api",
    "signal": "optional signal or antenna value",
    "rawPayload": "optional troubleshooting value"
  }

Validation checklist for each reader
- Connects without freezing the main or field platform.
- Works offline when the device/browser already has the app loaded.
- Captures at least 100 rapid reads without dropping accepted tags.
- Duplicate reads are highlighted and counted.
- Unknown tags are saved and can be converted into herd registry animals.
- Records include reader/device identity and farm organization ID.
- Sync does not leak scans into another farm account.
- Disconnect/reconnect does not lose unsynced scans.

Production note
- Formal vendor certification or country-specific compliance should be claimed only after testing that exact hardware, firmware, workflow, and local regulation.
- HerdOS should market this as global RFID-ready and adapter-based until certified reader partnerships are completed.
